This book deals with a document entitled »Kö ül Tözin Uk tdaç Nom« (The Book of Teaching of the Essence of Mind), a Uighur text from the Mongolian era. The work demonstrates the influence of Buddhist thought on the Uighurs and provides linguistic material related to the development of this section of the Uighur lexicon. The text is also significant in the framework of Buddhist studies since neither a Chinese nor a Sanskrit version has yet been found.
